BISMILA-HIR RAHMA-NIR RAHIM
Today another excellent topic of study. May Allah bless you as you seek Him in reverent prayer (du’a) for guidance and direction while here on earth.
Does Allah have ‘human’ characteristics? Is there a ‘human’ side to His Divine aspect? According to the Honored Qur’an and the Holy Books (Bible Scriptures), there is. This does in no way take away from His Divinity. Consider the following: Sura 2:256
…“whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.” 002.256 Al-Baqara
Here it says that Allah has hands or else how would we take hold of the most trustworthy hand-hold? Notice the words from one of the wisest men of the East of Ancient times written in the Taurat: Job 12:9-10 “Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD [Allah] hath wrought this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.” According to both the Honored Qur’an and the Holy Books, Allah has hands! Isn’t that amazing? We can trust our lives safely into His Hands.
But the record does not stop there, it also says that Allah hath ears…or else how could He hear? “Allah heareth” Sura 2:256 Al-Baqara.
This same sentiment is also brought out in the Holy Books, in the Zabur given by Allah to Daud: Psalms 18:6 “In my distress I called upon the LORD [Allah], and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.”
Allah the most compassionate and merciful has ears and they are open unto your cry! Are these not portraying the ‘human side’ of Allah? It simply gives us confidence to come to Him.
And then Allah has eyes for He told Noah to “construct an ark under our eyes” Sura 11:37 Again the Zabur records the following from the Holy Books: Psalms 34:15 “The eyes of the LORD [Allah] are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.”
From Solomon, the wisest of men who ever did live wrote: Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the LORD [Allah] are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”
To make the point even more clear, it states in the sacred record that Allah has a nose. One of the ancient prophets wrote in the Taurat:
Amos 5:21-22 “…I [Allah] despise your feast days, and I [Allah] will not smell in your solemn assemblies…” Not only does Allah smell but the record says that He also ‘laughs’. He laughs at the foolishness of the wicked. (Zabur) Psalms 37:13 “The Lord [Allah] shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.”
Allah’s Human side?
Has anyone from among the human family seen the human side of Allah? Exodus 24:9-11 “Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: And they saw the God [Allah] of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone… they saw God [Allah]…” They saw Allah in His human side for they saw that He had ‘feet’. Then there is Jacob, this is what he saw. Genesis 32:30 ‘And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God [Allah] face to face, and my life is preserved.’ Jacob saw the face of Allah…is there someone else who came that close to see Allah in His human form? Yes, it is the first recorded person in the Taurat who saw Allah…it is Hagar, the mother of the Children of the East, the Arab people. It was when she fled from the camp of Ibrahim and in her distress, being out in the desert, feeling forsaken, someone came to her. Listen to her testimony. Genesis 16:13 ‘And she called the name of the LORD [Allah] that spake unto her, Thou God [Allah] seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me’?
Moses too saw Allah…Exodus 3:6 ‘Moreover he said, I am the God [Allah] of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God [Allah]’.
Do these verses in both the Honored Qur’an and the Holy Books (Bible) give to us some resemblance that there is also a human side to Allah? Dear reader there are just so many verses from the Holy Books that we cannot be mistaken upon this point.
As we continue, Allah also has arms…Again from one of the greatest men of the East of ancient times comes to us these words: (Taurat)
Job 40:9 “Hast thou an arm like God [Allah]? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?”
In the verse just quoted it mentions that Allah has a voice, is this not also recorded in the Honored Qur’an? Sura 3:95 It says to us that Allah has a mouth for it says: “Allah speaketh the truth” Sura 3:95 How could the truth be spoken and how could Allah’s voice be heard if He did not have a mouth?
Dear reader we have often dwelt upon the Divine side of Allah. We speak of Him in His great power, might, being everywhere present and this is true and only proper. However should we also not see that there is another side of Allah which we may have over looked?
Who did the prophet Daniel see?
In the Taurat, the Prophet Daniel was taken off in vision. It is fully recorded in Daniel 10:5-6 Daniel saw a person, he called him a ‘man’. Then he proceeded to describe what unusual man this was. (Taurat) Daniel 10:5-6 “Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.”
Notice the distinct human characteristics of who the Prophet Daniel saw in vision:
This ‘man’ clothed in linen.
His ‘loin’ girded in fine gold.
His ‘body’ like beryl.
His ‘face’ as lightning.
His ‘eyes’ as lamps of fire.
His ‘arms’ and ‘feet’ of polished brass.
His ‘voice’ like a multitude.
In the Injeel, Yahya (John the Revelator) saw the same man: Revelation Chapter 1, here Yahya saw Him as the ‘Alpha and Omega’, this same being was “like unto the Son of man”.
1. ‘man’ clothed w/ garment & golden girdle.
2. ‘head’ and ‘hair’ white, like wool and snow.
3. His ‘eyes’ were as a flame of fire.
4. His ‘feet’ like fine brass.
5. His ‘voice’ as the sound of many waters.
6. Out of His ‘mouth’ went a sharp sword.
7. His ‘face’ shone as the sun in it’s strength.
8. Yahya says in verse 18, that this man ‘liveth, was dead and now is alive forever more’.
Here we have in Revelation (Injeel) the same person seen by Daniel. Just to make sure we do not miss who this person is, we have more revealed to us in the book of Revelation Chapter 2:18 which adds, “these things saith the Son of God (Allah), who hath his ‘eyes’ like unto a flame of fire, and his ‘feet’ are like fine brass.” Here Yahya calls this important man seen in vision, the Son of Allah. Yahya continues to unfold to us more clearly who this is. Revelation 19:13-16. Here is described the exact same person, who is called “faithful and true” having “eyes as a flame of fire” many crowns upon his head. He was clothed with a vesture (garment) dipped in blood, his name is revealed as “The Word of God” (Isa al-Masih). Again out of his mouth is a sharp sword and his name is also “King of Kings, and Lord of Lords” Thus we see again the following:
1). Eyes like flames
2). Mouth with sword
3). Clothed in a garment of blood (crucifixion)
4). Called the Word of God (Allah)
5). His name:“King of Kings and Lord of Lords”
Isa al-Masih, the Word from Allah!
Sura 3:45 Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah;” Sura 003.045 Aal-E-Imran
Recorded in the Injeel we have John 1:14 “and the Word [Isa al-Masih] was made flesh [human] and dwelt among us”…Dear friend of Allah, here in the most descript language, Allah has revealed to us that there are human characteristics of Allah. His name is called “Isa al-Masih”. After all we have read and seen in the Holy Books, is it too much of a stretch of the imagination that Allah can present Himself to us also as a man? For what better way could Allah communicate with us, than for Him to come in human form so that we could know what Allah is really like. In the life of Isa al-Masih we see the character of Allah more fully displayed. Isa came to pay the ransom for the fallen sons of Adam. Isa came to purchase back, to redeem men from Satan’s [Iblis’s] strong hold. Isa came to reveal both the Divine Character of Allah and the human side of Allah!
